The Salt Lake Tribune reported this morning that Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles passed away last night in his sleep.
Elder Wirthlin was not only a terrific individual and leader, he was grandfather to some of my closest friends growing up and a neighbor. His humor, hopeful perspective, and inspirational life will be missed, but the effect he has had on so many of us will reverberate for years to come.
I love his last talk given at the General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints last October. It's entitled "Come What May, and Love It."
He was 91.
