Last Days

No, not the apocalyptic, John the Revelator-type "Last Days." These are my last days at BYU Law. So, in short, here are some of my lasts from the J. Reub: ...Pizza. No more free noon-time activities that force me to sit through a discussion I didn't want to attend in order to get some cold, one-topping pizza slice that will not satisfy my hunger. On the other hand, that free pizza (or fill-in-the-blank semi-fast food) did keep me from starving during my first year. ...Class. No more hand-wringing, forced-attendance, quasi-Socratic sessions with Professors. Don't get me wrong, some of my classes have been TREMENDOUS. Most in fact. But I'm still reeling from that angst-ridden First Year. I still have nightmares about Civil Procedure... ...Fun with Friends in Carrels. This one makes me sad. Awfully sad sometimes. My friends and colleagues have been by far the best part of Law School. I will miss them terribly. ...Provo. This may be my last swansong with Provo. I LOVE the people I've met in Provo. I love some of the quirkisms ingrained in this place. But I'm ready to move on from it.... Speaking of this magic place...if Provo were my significant other, the tracklist on our mixed CD of love would look something like this: 1. Don't Stop Believing-- Journey (self-explanatory). 2. Anything you Can't do, I Can't do Either-- Honor Code 3. Hot n Cold-- Katy Perry (I have a love/hate relationship with this place. I can't tell you how many times I've broken up to make up with Utah County.) 4. My Life Would Suck Without You-- Kelly Clarkson (probably true) 5. Ice, Ice Baby-- Vanilla Ice/Queen/Witherspoon (the dramatic reading by Kyle Witherspoon will someday soon be available on iTunes. Catch the dream...) 6. Anything by Jericho Road 7. Take on Me-- A-Ha (I still routinely try to jump through walls into an animated dream land...that unfortunately still does not exist) 8. Stairway to Heaven-- Led Zeppelin (Otherwise known as the HWHLL stairs up to Carreltown) 9. Living on a Prayer-- Bon Jovi (best. karaoke. song. ever.) 10. Carreltown...er...Allentown-- Billy Joel (Law School was a lot like this song and music video. Minus the sweaty steel workers. And the showers. And Billy Joel. But you better believe we had the Pennsylvania attitude.) 11. Phantom of the Opera-- Andrew Lloyd Webber. ("The Phantom of the Law School is there...inside your mind" will always reverberate in the halls of my mental J. Reuben Clark). In all seriousness, I'm gonna miss this place. Time to hide out for finals!

I'd have to disagree on the best karaoke song ever... Still think Whitney Houston's I Wanna Dance with Somebody takes the cake

Duly noted. :D

Maybe we can make a compromise: Living on a Prayer is the best Male Karaoke song ever, and I Wanna Dance with Somebody is the best Female Karaoke song ever...

If people have objections, we can always embrace democracy and throw it out for a vote.

From now on I want to try and compile cd mixes for different periods of my life. Good job (and Livin on a Prayer > anything that Whitney Houston has ever done).

Seriously, Eric, HAGS.

Annnnd, what about A Whole New World? Bc that's a karaoke dream AND a duet.

Funny I always think of Provo when I hear the song "Heartbreak Town" by the Dixie Chicks.
